The Berkhamsted Walk

About the walk

The Berkhamsted Walk aims to give you a wonderful day out in beautiful countryside and raise money for The Children’s Society to help support vulnerable children.

The walk routes vary from year to year and are self-guided so that you can go at your own pace.

There are three options:

  1. The Fun Walk – 6 miles, starting any time from 9.00am to 2.00pm.
  2. Bluebell Walk – 12 miles, starting any time from 9.00am to 11.30am.
  3. The Challenge Walk – 18 miles, starting any time from 9.00am to 11.30am.

All three walks start and finish from Kitchener’s Field (Castle Hill, Berkhamsted, HP4 1HE, next to Berkhamsted Cricket Club) and go straight out into the Hertfordshire countryside. There is some parking available at Kitchener’s Field and additional parking can be found at Berkhamsted Railway Station, a 5 minute walk away. Please park considerately.

Walkers are provided with a map and the walks are clearly signposted. Soft drinks are provided at checkpoints every three miles or so and lifts to the finish are available from the checkpoints, if required.

All walkers are welcome to join us for tea and cake after their walk. The final checkpoint, at Kitchener’s Field, will close at 6.00pm.

"Gorgeous walk, perfect time of year (bluebells), well organised, friendly staff and great lemonade."
